RNA polymerases hibernate together during tough times

RNA polymerases

Bacteria can grow fast when nutrients are plentiful or lie dormant for years when food is scarce. A recent study led by Markus Wahl and Irina Artsimovitch published in Nature Communications identifies a protein that recycles used RNA polymerases to sustain efficient RNA synthesis or traps inactive RNA polymerase dimers when nutrients run out.
