How Bacteria Avoid Making Unwanted RNA

An important gene expression process in bacteria seems to proceed differently than described in textbooks. This is the result of a study published in the journal Science by an international team  headed by Markus C. Wahl at Freie Universität Berlin and  our own Irina Artsimovitch. Their work deals with, among other things, the question of why pathogenic bacteria turn out to be harmful to us without harming themselves. Read the full press release here.
